Monster Hunter: Rise Sunbreak sold over 2 million global copies in its first week

Monster Hunter: Rise expansion Sunbreak has passed the 2 million sales milestones in less than a week.

Capcom announced that 2 million units of its Monster Hunter Rise expansion, Sunbreak, have been sold worldwide.
Sunbreak was released on June 30 and already has passed the 2,000,000 milestones in less than a week.
Since its inception in 2004, the Monster Hunter franchise has grown in popularity. Each new version of the game, which allows players to track their monsters or team up with others to hunt them in beautiful natural settings, has been a hit with action RPG fans. Monster Hunter: World was the most successful release in 2018. It saw a four-year increase in sales. This entry in the franchise has sold a record 21 million units if you include the Iceborne expansion.

Monster Hunter: Rise’s March 2021 release has sold over 10 million units worldwide. It was made possible by various measures, including free updates, the launch of a PC edition, and the release of a set which includes Sunbreak.

Capcom announced today that Sunbreak, the new expansion to Monster Hunter: Rise, has sold 2 million copies worldwide. Sunbreak is an expansion that includes many new features, such as quests and locations, monsters and new quest ranks. It also offers never-before-seen hunting actions and a story chapter.

Capcom noted that Monster Hunter World was the best-selling Capcom title of all time, and the Monster Hunter series sold a total of 84 million units.
World has shipped 21 million units so far, compared to Resident Evil 7, Capcom’s second-best-selling game. Resident Evil 7 sold 10.8 million units as of March 2022.

Capcom noted that Sunbreak is not the endpoint but a milestone in the franchise’s history. Capcom intends to support Monster Hunter Rise with more free content and increase sales via ongoing promotions and pricing strategies.

The press release concludes, “The company will continue leveraging its digital strategy in the future. aiming to maximize unit sales with ongoing promotions including the continual release of free additional content.” Capcom is committed to meeting all users’ expectations by leveraging its world-leading game development capabilities.
