How many people play Fortnite?
The current Fortnite player count is around 83.3 million, with roughly 3 million concurrent players at any specific time.
Like many other well-known game publishers such as Roblox, Epic Games doesn’t regularly share Fortnite player statistics publically. They usually shout about significant stats and release new numbers only when they reach a new record, so it isn’t easy to get the exact numbers. However, we compiled some statistics from Epic and different authentic sources.
Fortnite daily active players were disclosed in the lawsuit between Apple and Epic Games over the game’s status on the app store in August 2020. The average daily active users on Fortnite were 25 million, including 10% (approximately 2.5 million) iOS users daily.
In 2020, Epic reported that Fortnite is the “largest game in the world,” with over 80.4 million monthly active players. As of June 2021, 83.3 million people play Fortnite monthly. Yet the current figures for 2022 are not published by Epic.
In 2018, Fortnite had 78.3 million active players worldwide, and the game only engaged 6.38% more monthly players till 2021.
Here is an overview of Fortnite monthly active players since 2018:
Year | Monthly Players |
---|---|
2018 | 78.3 million |
2019 | 75.5 million |
2020 | 80.4 million |
2021 | 83.3 million |
Fortnite player count is between 2.5 million and 4 million concurrent players means that all are logged on and playing Fortnite simultaneously. At the time of writing, the Fortnite player count is around 3 million concurrent players.
It is the third-party statistics by playercounter.com; however, this estimated number may not be completely accurate as Epic hasn’t officially revealed it.
These numbers tend to increase during Fortnite live events. The Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 Galactus event in December 2020 resulted in 15.3 million concurrent players logging in to help conquer Galactus. This is a significant increase from the reported 12.3 million players who joined simultaneously to enjoy the Travis Scott event in April 2020.
That’s also a substantial increase from the Marshmello concert in February 2019, resulting in 10.8 million concurrent players. We don’t know why Epic has not released new stats; maybe new events failed to beat already released concurrent numbers as all the numbers shared by Epic constantly went up. However, that may not be the case, as registered users and active monthly players increased during the same period.
